#118 - What a View

#118 - What a View

Swinging on a swing waiting for Zumba class to start. The school where we do the class is in Newport News and RIGHT on the water. Lucky kids! Beautiful weather this week too so I enjoyed some (more) time outside.

So here it is! Finished product. Still not sure if I want to add more flowers to it or not. I have more made up but it looked good with just these.

#116 - Ellie Sage

#115 - Ellie Sage
She's just so cute. And loves getting her picture taken - does little poses. :) Here she looks like she's ready to join the girls for a beach weekend. Maybe one day!

#115 - Acid Park

#115 - Acid Park

Acid Park is a collection of Whirligigs that Vollis Simpson makes in Wilson, NC. I was able to purchase my first one! Very excited. And we got a picture with the artist.

Had a great time with the Russo's when they came to Wilson for the day on Sunday. Went to Dick's Hot Dogs, Acid Park, grandparents house for a little sewing lesson, watched (and played) Minute to Win It. Great times.

#114 - 63 years

#114 - 63 Years

After 63 years of marriage, my grandparents still hold hands. I think it's adorable. He also has bought her a Whitman's Sampler chocolate box every Christmas since they met. :) She uses a lot of them as sewing boxes to keep project in and it's the perfect size.
Had a great time in Wilson over the weekend. More pics to come...

#113 - Visitor

#113 - Visitor

Cleaning up the lab today, and pulled all the waders from outside that had dried and put them in a huge pile on the lab floor. Then I went through them and put them away by size on the counter - and what do I find when I pick up one of the pairs of waders. This cute little guy!

#112 - Earth Day

#112 - Earth Day
Earth Day was awesome this year. Had a beautiful day and field trip. Then a great time with friends and new people at Green Drinks.

That's a smiley face in mud on a kid's hand. :)

#111 - Back Up Plan

#111 - Back Up Plan

What do you do with a bunch of high schoolers when their exciting boat trip gets cancelled due to bad weather? Plan B! The teacher LOVED this. We did a lab with our habitat cages and then the kids each made one to take back to school. So they can continue to do this lab forever! :)

Mrs. G and I go out with the kids to try and catch some flounder!

#109 - Seahorse

#109 - Seahorse

It's still early in the season for seahorses, but this week has been full of them. Rescued a sickly looking one from a school and we even caught one on a field trip! Best is when a kid says that he's never seen one and thought it was a made up animal. Seahorses just have this magical power over kids. Amazing.

One-up

Why do I feel like everyone everywhere I go is trying to one-up me?

#107 - Small Victories

#107 - Small Victories

After working all day, coming home and actually putting some stuff away at the house, all I wanted to do was relax and watch a movie I had picked up earlier. Well, of course I couldn't get the DVD to play. This was followed with about 20 minutes of frustration - followed by a freak out text to my technologically knowledgeable brother (b/c I couldn't admit to the boyfriend that I couldn't work my own DVD player) - followed by five more minutes of frustration. But look, I got the movie to work. Oh the small joys in life!

#106 - Living Room: Work in Progress

#106 - Living Room: Work in Progress

So I got a rug today - took a picture of the room with the rug to show my mom and Andrea. I like it! :) So this is a sneak peek of the living room.

#105 - Beach Hair

#105 - Beach Hair

So this is what Daniel (my hairdresser) calls my sexy beach hair.

I call it crazy curly with an 80's bang b/c he flipped them to the other side as usual.
I like it much better later that night after it had calmed down a little.

#104 - Fixtures

#104 - Fixtures

I love the fixtures in my new house. :)

#103 - Dang Bird

#103 - Dang Bird

So I woke up this morning to a knocking on the door - or so I thought. As I walked down the stairs, I realized it was coming from the back door. Like the sliding glass door onto my patio. Started to get nervous. Why would someone be knocking on that door this early? Well it was none other than a bird, a robin in fact. Just continually knocking on the window. You might be able to see all the smudges on the glass from two days of him doing this but you'll definitely see the soiled table. Gross. But I think he might be gone - we'll see.

#102 - This is how we roll

#102 - This is how we roll

When your boyfriend and you both move at the same time, you improvise on tables. And you use one of the 100's of boxes lying around as a dinner table. Awesomeness. Even said "kitchen" on the box.

#101 - DOG Street

#101 - DOG Street

Or Duke of Gloucester Street for those of you that aren't local. But DOG street was appropriately named this Sunday as we visited for some lovely Cheese Shop sandwiches (even though they were out of chicken salad - shame on you Cheese Shop). There were a TON of dogs out for some sort of meetup or parade or something. And also these flowers just looked so lovely.

#100 - Moving Day

#100 - Moving Day

Isn't it appropriate as I reach my 100th picture and the 100th day of the year, that something BIG happens? Like moving into my new house!!!!!

P.S. Andrea is the master packer (as is Mary Mallory). Together, they are unstoppable.
P.P.S. My house is super awesome!

#99 - Glued

#99 - Glued

We thought we had scored the motherload of dropped change in New Town near the hair salon - only to find out that they were glued down to the pavement. Then we realized that the people working in the salon probably get a kick out of watching people do that all day long!

#98 - What is it?

#98 - What is it?

My mom said that after I sent her a picture of this rug while shopping for the new house. Hahhaah I thought it looked like a pretty cool rug but then she mentioned that it might be really hard to keep clean b/c of the raised up stones and yeah it was twice as much as the one I got so yeah, didn't get it. But shopping for things for the house with Andrea McNeely is super fun! She gets really silly in home improvement stores.

#97 - Flowers!!!

#97 - Flowers!!!

The only thing better than getting flowers, is getting them from an adorable 9 year old b/c they really enjoyed critter camp. How cute is THAT? And the day before I got a homemade woven coaster from another camper. They're so cute. :)

#96 - Critter Camp

#96 - Critter Camp

This week we had our first ever Spring Break camp. Just a three-day, 1/2 day thing where the kids made paper mache masks for the VIMS Marine Science Day paper parade. They came out sooo cute - I'll try and add finished product pictures later. But we had all sorts of animals - heron, pufferfish, sea star, sting ray, shark, clam, etc. The kids were really creative.

These are some of my favorite campers - and their masks after they dried and we popped the balloon on the inside and cut out the eye/mouth holes. Then, they were painted and fins attached.

#95 - Cleaning out the pantry

#95 - Cleaning out the pantry

Moving out in a week so figured I should clean out the closet. Not a typical candy for me to have out but had some leftover from making Christmas cookies with stained glass windows - gotta clean out that pantry so there's less to move.

#94 - Easter Dinner

#94 - Easter Dinner

Jared and I cooked a delicious Easter dinner tonight - salad (using his new Mandoline slicer), salmon (with a spice rub I picked up at the Williamsburg Farmer's Market) and a twice-baked potato. My first time baking a potato! Now if only I had a Reese's Peanut Butter Egg from my Easter basket....

#93 - Moving Day

#93 - Moving Day

Jared's big moving day! And we actually got a Virginia UHaul - don't think I've ever seen one. The move went well and now one move down, one to go!

#92 - Spring trees

#92 - Spring Trees

The trees in the burg are blooming and looking so nice! Hopefully they aren't the reason that my nose won't stop running though....

#91 - Dinner Party

#91 - Dinner Party

First "dinner party" in the new house. Jared, Tracy, Mike, and I tried out the new Chipotle in the burg and then brought it back to the house for dinner on the dining room floor with a little champagne (thanks, Mom)! :)

#90 - Dreaming of ferry rides

#90 - Dreaming of ferry rides

While sick and sitting on the couch, waiting for this stupid cold to go away, thinking about ferry rides to College Run Farms over in Surry - to pick strawberries. Spring is here and I'm ready to get back outside!
